Cano could play at second base on Friday
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano had an MRI Monday that found bursitis in his right shoulder and he could play the field on Friday.

Cano will pinch hit or be a designated hitter until then. He had a pinch-single during the sixth inning of New York's 12-0 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday.

"It feels better," Cano said. "I'll be ready in a few days."

Cano has experienced tightness behind his right shoulder all spring training. He resumed playing catch before Monday's game.

Cano didn't tell the Yankees about his shoulder problem before joining the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic. The Yankees told Cano that the next time he has any problem to let the training staff know.

"Next time, I tell them from the beginning," Cano said. "Maybe it would be gone by this time."

Cano is taking anti-inflammatory medication and performing strength-building exercises.

Left-hander Damaso Marte also had an MRI Monday. and it showed he has inflammation in his left shoulder. The reliever will have the first of two bullpen sessions Tuesday and could pitch this weekend.

New York manager Joe Girardi is leaning toward having Marte and Brian Bruney fill the eighth-inning setup role for closer Mariano Rivera.

"We're probably going to share that role," Girardi said. "Bruney, Marte, it won't be one guy. One guy could emerge during the course of the season. Right now, depending on the lineup, might use two guys in that inning. I feel comfortable with those guys throwing in that inning."

Rivera, coming back from right shoulder surgery last October, was to make his first spring training appearance Tuesday. He expects to ready for opening day.

Catcher Jorge Posada is set to play five innings behind the plate Tuesday. He has been limited to designated hitter due to right shoulder surgery before playing defense for the first time Sunday.

Notes: The Yankees said a limited number of premium tickets at the new Yankee Stadium will be available for individual game sales, which start next week. The team said the pricing of the available individual premium seats wasn't yet available. On a season basis, they have sold for $100-$2,500 per game.
