The Yankees could make a decision on Joba Chamberlain's fate Friday after receiving his input. The right-hander wanted to see how his legs would feel following his last appearance.
It would serve Chamberlain and the club well if he reported he was ready to start Tuesday in place of injured right-hander Ian Kennedy. Now that the Yankees have a need and Chamberlain has spent his young big-league career switching from one role to the other, the time should be right for him to take his place in the rotation.
He's on track to throw 70 to 80 pitches, and that should work well enough in a start.
He can best serve the Yankees and himself by finally having a place in which he can settle.
