--RHP Chien-Ming Wang threw six shutout innings in his first rehab start for Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday. Wang allowed just three hits and three walks while striking out six, but it may not be enough to get him back into the Yankees rotation quite yet. Before the game, general manager Brian Cashman told the New York Daily News that he anticipated Wang, who went on the disabled list with hip weakness after he went 0-3 with a 34.50 ERA in his first three starts, would need more than one rehab start before he rejoined the Yankees.
--RHP Ian Kennedy underwent surgery to repair an aneurysm in his right shoulder Tuesday. The operation was performed by Dr. George Todd, who also repaired an aneurysm in David Cone's right shoulder in 1996. Kennedy, who was 1-0 with a 1.61 ERA in four starts for Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, isn't expected to begin throwing for six to eight weeks. BY THE NUMBERS: 2 -- Catchers the Yankees placed on the disabled list in a three-day span in the second week of May.
