--OF Johnny Damon was named the American League Player of the Week on Monday. Damon hit .419 (13-for-31) with five homers and 15 RBI in seven games. He has recorded an extra-base hit in seven straight games and leads the Yankees in homers (nine) and RBI (25) while ranking second in batting average (.314).
--RHP A.J. Burnett will make his first start against his old team Tuesday night when he takes the mound against the Blue Jays in Toronto. Burnett spent three seasons with Toronto and credits Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay -- whom he opposes Tuesday night -- with helping him to mature and become a better pitcher. --IF Angel Berroa appeared to be the player most likely to lose his roster spot following the return of Alex Rodriguez, but manager Joe Girardi told reporters Sunday that Berroa and fellow infielder Ramiro Pena will remain with the Yankees until the club is sure Rodriguez is able to handle daily duty at third base. Berroa has made three starts at third base and is hitting .167 in 12 at-bats.
--3B Alex Rodriguez likely will start at designated hitter during one of the Yankees' three games on the artificial turf in Toronto this week, according to manager Joe Girardi.

RHP Joba Chamberlain (burst blood vessel in right thumb) was hurt May 9, but he started May 10.
C Jose Molina (strained left quadriceps) went on the 15-day disabled list May 8.
C Jorge Posada (strained right hamstring) went on the 15-day disabled list May 5.
LHP Damaso Marte (left shoulder soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list May 3.
RHP Brian Bruney (sore right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 22. He is unlikely to return before late May.
RHP Chien-Ming Wang (hip weakness) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 19 with an ailment connected to the season-ending Lisfranc foot injury he suffered last year. He pitched May 2 in extended spring training.
3B Cody Ransom (right quadriceps tear) went on the 60-day disabled list April 26.
OF Xavier Nady (sore right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 15. He will try to rehab the injury without surgery.
DH Hideki Matsui (left knee surgery in September 2008) won't play in the field before June.
