Difficult loss for the Yankees there. They were leading 6-0 and cruising behind A.J. Burnett. Then he just lost his grip on the Red Sox hitters, giving up eight earned runs in the fourth and fifth innings. burnett took it hard. He was still in his uniform, hours after having left the game, and said he'd been in the clubhouse: quot;trying to calm down.quot; He added that it was quot;unacceptablequot; for him to pitch that way and that he would not get any sleep tonight. The Yankees bullpen also struggled. All six of Mike Lowell's RBIs came in the seventh and eighth innings.
If you're looking for a bright spot, here are a couple. Robinson Cano hit two homers and a double and had five RBIs. And Brian Bruney feels relieved that his right elbow is nothing more than a mild muscle strain and he could be back from the DL in 15 days.
Otherwise, it's been a rough weekend for the Yankees in Boston thus far.
